If you’re looking for a change in your routine, downtown Hattiesburg is the place to visit. There always seems to be something entertaining happening in this area. For instance, downtown has become a true artist’s community and the periodic Art Walks allow them to showcase what is happening. The businesses support these opportunities and extend their hours so that customers can drop in and see what they have to offer. There is always live music to enjoy during the Art Walk and great meals to eat are available abound in the downtown eateries. Last weekend the first Art Walk this season featured a big band performance by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. The concert was held at the historic Saenger Theatre to celebrate 80 years of entertainment in downtown Hattiesburg.
From bookstores to gift shops with Sacks nestled in between, there is great shopping in the downtown area. On weekends there is plenty of parking to make a stroll among the shops an enjoyable undertaking. It is well worth the time to finish your browsing with a trip out for lunch at Brownstones or Bianchis.
The Saenger has many shows throughout the year. Visiting their website, www.hattiesburgsaenger.com will help you plan a trip to this venue.
