Upgrade/Downgrade

With Paula gone, America’s favorite reality show needed to fill the empty seat in the judges’ panel with someone who could live up to Paula’s craziness, yet still manage to make sense.  The producers did just that by picking comedian and talk show host Ellen Degeneres.  Ellen will not only provide plenty of laughs, but she will also give the average American a voice on the panel.  Simon, Kara, and Randy provide plenty of music industry insight, so having Ellen at the table to give America critiques we can all understand will be a welcome change.

Is it just me, or does the traffic in the parking lot move at a snail’s pace after school?  Exiting the school has never been a speedy task, but this year it has been even more time consuming.  Compared to last year, it takes me about 15 minutes longer to move from my parking spot to the gate every day.  Those 15 extra minutes I spend idling in the parking lot are not only a waste of gas, but the wait also causes me to miss the first 15 minutes of “Glenn Beck” nearly every day.  And when I have to balance hours of homework and an extensive list of TV shows I must watch, those 15 minutes are extremely valuable.

Every year, the week before homecoming is full of festivities that try to get the student body into the school spirit.  This year’s theme for homecoming, “Warriors around the World,” was definitely thinking outside the box.  Additionally, the dress-up themes for the days leading up to the homecoming game were equally creative.  “Safari Day” and “Caribbean Day” definitely led to more interesting costumes than “60s Day” and “80s Day” could ever produce.  Because honestly, how many different ways can you dress like you’re joining the cast of “Happy Days?”

Kanye West really is starved for attention.  That’s the only excuse I can come up with that would push someone to stand up during any awards show and basically tell the recipient of the award that she wasn’t worthy.  But let’s not forget, this isn’t Kanye’s first offense.  In 2004 when Gretchen Wilson was chosen as Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards, Kanye left the building in a fit of rage saying, “That’s crazy, I am the best new artist of the year!”  At the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, Kanye stormed the stage after his music video for “Touch the Sky” wasn’t named “Video of the Year” and interrupted the acceptance speech of the winning group.  Hey Kanye, maybe you just aren’t that good.
