Oak Grove has a reputation for excelling both academically and in athletics. While some students are hanging up their high school athletic gear and ending their playing days, others will continue to seek the rewards of participating in a sport. Like years in the past, there is a host of 2010 graduating seniors who will be taking their games to the next level pursuing their sport in college. Currently there are 20 athletes who have signed letters of intent committing to play for the school of their choice. These athletes cover a wide range of sports that are offered at Oak Grove High School. However, as the school year draws to a close, there are still student athletes who have not made a final decision and thus have not formally signed for next year. Some of these individuals may choose to be “walk-ons” if they do not receive scholarship offers from the college they plan to attend.
Coach Tim Heldt, Oak Grove’s Athletic Director shared, “These athletes represented Oak Grove very well and will be missed.” These students have provided leadership that has led the school to state play-offs and district championships throughout their high school career. The students who remain behind have gained a lot through working and playing with these departing seniors. All of these athletes have a great future ahead of them and they will be missed by classmates, coaches, and principals.
